What is Liability?
Liability insurance coverage covers you in the event of an accident that you are found legally liable for. It will cover the costs of the other parties bodily injury and property damages up to limits selected on the policy.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM) provides coverage in the event that another party is found legally liable for your bodily injury and/or property damage but they either do not have Liability insurance or enough Liability insurance. Coverage is also provided for hit and run incidents.
UM/UIM does have deductibles, $100 if the other party can be identified, and $300 if the other party cannot be identified. Coverage is only up the limits selected on the policy. This coverage is required to be offered, but can be rejected by signing a form.
Personal Injury Protection
Personal Injury Protection Coverage (PIP) is insurance cover for medical and other related expenses, such as loss of wages, funeral expense, loss of services (payment to others for work you cannot do) in the event of a covered loss. This coverage will pay regardless of fault. Limit options are $10,000 or $35,000 This coverage is required to be offered, but can be rejected by signing a form. (Washington only)
